Neighbors,
I want to extend extra gratitude to the rapid responders, Know Your Rights canvassers, and organizations who have been volunteering all hours of the day to keep our neighbors protected. While I am working hard to pass policy to hold federal agents to the same constitutional standards as anyone, your work in the community is invaluable. Thank you. |

Humboldt Park Little League This past weekend, the Humboldt Park Little League hosted its end of the season trophy ceremony, celebrating the players and their families. It was moving to see how many families place their trust in the League, making it such a valuable resource for our community. A special thank you to Mikey Sánchez for his dedication in keeping the League alive and thriving. |

Alma’s Way in Humboldt Park Last Saturday, WTTW brought Alma’s Way from the Bronx to our Puerto Rican community here in Chicago, and the joy was contagious. More than 450 families registered, with over 100 walk-ups joining the fun. From bomba and double dutch to a bookmobile and more, young people had an incredible variety of activities that celebrated culture, creativity, and community. A special thanks to WTTW and the Chicago Park District Humboldt Park staff for helping create unforgettable memories for young people. |

ADU Expansion + Jackson Park Housing Pilot Yesterday, City Council voted to expand Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) so more neighbors can legalize basement and attic apartments and build backyard coach houses. This is the #1 zoning question my office receives: “I want my mother/brother/daughter to live close by. How can I build a coach house?,” “I need extra income to cover rising property taxes. How do I legalize my basement unit?”
In a city with an affordable rental shortage of well over 100,000 homes, this expansion cuts red tape and gives working people real tools to fight displacement and stay rooted right here in our community. ADUs help us add gentle density while keeping families together, helping owners maintain their buildings, and giving renters more affordable options. |

I proudly voted YES, and I intend to be one of the first Alders to opt the entire 26th Ward into the program! When that happens, we’ll share more step-by-step information on how you can take advantage of ADU expansion in your own backyard. Thank you to every neighbor who reached out to advocate for this important win!
In addition to the ADU, I also proudly voted yes on the Jackson Park Housing Pilot to ensure that the residents of Woodlawn and South Shore have the opportunity to stay in their homes and benefit from the Obama Center. Another community win that centers housing as a human right! |

FINAL CALL! Submit Your Participatory Budgeting Ideas by Tuesday, September 30 Be take into consideration the cost and feasibility of your ideas. As you may know, construction materials have increased, so what may have been a small project may now cost twice as much. Feasibility examples include North Avenue projects, which must be approved by IDOT, and Park District projects, which may need to be approved by park advisory councils. Last year’s ideas and feasibility notes may be reviewed here. |

Boulevard Landmark District Extension Project |
The “Logan Square Boulevards District” is a significant part of our community's history and character. An extension of this Landmark District is currently being considered. This process typically takes 6 to 9 months and includes communication and notices throughout the process.
This project builds on decades of historic preservation work and reflects the ongoing commitment of the 26th Ward to encouraging sustainable development and maintaining the unique identity of our neighborhoods.
You can learn more about the project, review FAQs, and submit your thoughts at the26thward.org/boulevard-landmarking. |
The 26th Ward's zoning process requires anyone requesting a zoning change to first complete a zoning intake form. After review, they present their request to the Zoning Advisory Committee and answer questions. In some cases, they may also present at a community input meeting. |
